Maynard Pride Pet Parade 2026 in downtown Maynard Massachusetts

Why We Support Maynard Pride

On June 7, 2026, Maynard, Massachusetts once again demonstrated what makes this community so special.

The annual Maynard Pride Celebration brought together neighbors, families, businesses, volunteers, and visitors for a day filled with joy, color, acceptance, and connection.

This year, Patricia Sands and I were honored to serve as Grand Marshals of the Pet Parade that kicked off the festivities.

While the title technically belonged to us, it's fair to say we were merely the opening act for dozens of dogs dressed in rainbow bandanas, tutus, and Pride-themed accessories.

We accepted our supporting roles with grace.

Why Pride Matters to Us

For us, supporting Maynard Pride goes beyond sponsorship.

It reflects values that guide both our business and our lives.

As Realtors®, Fair Housing is foundational to what we do. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to find a home, build a life, and feel welcomed in the community where they live, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, race, religion, disability, or family structure.

Housing is about more than a roof overhead.

It's about belonging.

Belonging Matters

That sense of belonging matters, especially when many LGBTQ+ individuals continue to face discrimination, harassment, and exclusion.

Young people in particular experience disproportionately high rates of depression, anxiety, and suicide.

While a community celebration cannot solve every challenge, it can send a powerful message:

You are welcome here. You matter here. You belong here.

Our Favorite Moment

One of our favorite moments came after the parade.

At our Pride booth, we welcomed what felt like hundreds of children, parents, grandparents, and neighbors who stopped by for rainbow-themed temporary tattoos.

Watching people of every age proudly wear a small rainbow, heart, or Pride flag was a reminder that inclusion often grows through simple acts of kindness, visibility, and connection.

Courage, Visibility, and Support

We also recognize that for some people, being visibly LGBTQ+ can still require courage.

For others, showing support for a friend, child, sibling, neighbor, or colleague can feel like a meaningful step.

Pride creates space for both.

It allows people to celebrate who they are, support those they love, and know they are not alone.

What Maynard Showed Us

The strength of a community is measured not by how similar we are, but by how we treat one another when we're different.

On June 7, Maynard showed what acceptance, respect, and community can look like.

We are grateful to the organizers, volunteers, sponsors, participants, and countless community members who make Maynard Pride possible every year.

And after spending an afternoon helping half the town leave with rainbow tattoos and watching dogs proudly parade through downtown in their Pride attire, we're more convinced than ever that community is at its best when everyone feels welcome to participate exactly as they are.

Happy Pride, Maynard.
