Any Day This Weekend

🛶 Paddle the Assabet River

One of Maynard's hidden gems is Rent Fun Kayak Rentals at Ice House Landing.

Spend an hour — or an afternoon — exploring the beautiful Assabet River by kayak.

Lauren's Tip: Go early in the morning or later in the evening for cooler temperatures and gorgeous lighting.

🚲 Walk or Bike the Assabet River Rail Trail

Looking for another way to enjoy the outdoors?

The Assabet River Rail Trail connects Maynard, Acton, Stow, Hudson, and Marlborough with miles of scenic paved pathways.

Perfect for:

  • Walking
  • Running
  • Biking
  • Birdwatching
  • Photography

Early morning and sunset are especially beautiful — and much cooler.

🐾 Walk Through American History — Bring Your Dog

Since America is celebrating its 250th birthday, there's no better weekend to visit Minute Man National Historical Park.

Just a short drive from Maynard, Acton, Stow, and Lincoln, the park preserves the sites of the opening battles of the American Revolution and offers miles of beautiful walking trails through history.

Better yet — it makes a wonderful outing for dog lovers.

Leashed dogs are welcome on the park's trails, making this one of our favorite places to explore with our four-legged family members. Pets aren't permitted inside park buildings, so be sure to keep them leashed and clean up after them.

Walk across the iconic North Bridge, explore portions of Battle Road Trail, and experience the landscapes where America's fight for independence began.

Dog-Friendly Tip: Bring plenty of water for both you and your pup — it's going to be a hot weekend.

Follow the park for ranger programs, special events, and America 250 celebrations: Minute Man National Historical Park Facebook Page.

🐾 Lauren's Dog-Friendly Pick of the Weekend

If your best friend has four legs and a wagging tail, make time for a visit to Minute Man National Historical Park.

Between the wooded trails, open fields, Revolutionary history, and beautiful scenery, it's one of our favorite places to spend a summer morning.

Happy tails, happy trails, and a little American history — it doesn't get much better than that.

🎨 Visit deCordova Sculpture Park

Looking for something a little different?

Spend a morning wandering the outdoor sculpture trails at deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum in Lincoln.

Art, nature, and beautiful walking paths combine to create one of MetroWest's most unique experiences.

🌿 Explore Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge

Bring a picnic — or just your binoculars — and enjoy one of the most peaceful natural areas in the region.

Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge is especially lovely early in the morning before the heat of the day arrives.

🎬 Beat the Heat at the Maynard Fine Arts Theatre

Need a break from the summer sun?

Spend the afternoon at the Maynard Fine Arts Theatre, one of MetroWest's favorite independent movie theaters.

Whether you're catching the latest blockbuster or an independent film, there's no better way to cool off than relaxing in air-conditioned comfort with a bucket of popcorn.

After the movie, stop next door at the Maynard Theatre Creamery for dessert.

☀️ Beat the Heat

With temperatures expected to climb into the 90s:

  • Stay hydrated.
  • Wear sunscreen.
  • Wear a hat.
  • Keep pets off hot pavement.
  • Bring water if you're kayaking.
  • Never leave children or pets in parked vehicles.

Plan outdoor activities early in the morning or later in the evening whenever possible.

Happy 250th Birthday, America!

This Independence Day marks 250 years since the Declaration of Independence was adopted in 1776.

Living here in MetroWest means we're surrounded by communities where history was made — and where neighbors still come together to celebrate.

Whether you're paddling the Assabet River, enjoying local festivals, watching a movie, sharing an ice cream cone, walking your dog through Revolutionary history, or simply spending time with family and friends, we hope you have a safe, meaningful, and memorable Fourth of July weekend.

Happy Independence Day from all of us at Lauren Tetreault & Team! ❤️🤍💙
