The 34th Annual MaynardFest takes over part of downtown on Saturday, October 3, followed by Maynard Porchfest on Sunday, October 4. Add live music, the Friends of the Maynard Public Library Fall Book Sale, local businesses, arts, food and other activity around town, and it is shaping up to be a particularly lively fall weekend in Maynard.
Whether you live here or are coming from one of the surrounding communities, October 3–4 is a great excuse to spend some time in Maynard and experience more of what is happening around town.
Saturday, October 3: The 34th Annual MaynardFest
Saturday starts with one of Maynard's signature community events: MaynardFest.
The 34th annual festival is scheduled for Saturday, October 3, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with activity at Memorial Park and along portions of Nason and Main Streets in downtown Maynard.
The festival is expected to bring approximately 120 vendors to town, along with entertainment and activities throughout the Maynard Cultural District.

Live Music at the Memorial Park Soundstage
Music is part of the Saturday festivities, with a four-act lineup planned for the Memorial Park Soundstage:
10:00 a.m. — Kenny Selcer & Steve Gilligan — Folk
11:15 a.m. — Mill Town Rounders — Americana
12:30 p.m. — Alison Keslow Duo — Jazz
1:45 p.m. — L & M Rhythm Kings — Blues
Between the music, vendors and activity downtown, there is plenty of reason to wander between Memorial Park, Main Street and the surrounding Cultural District.
More Live Music at Sanctuary
The music continues beyond the Memorial Park stage.
Sanctuary Cultural Arts Center has a full day planned on October 3, beginning with the free Mister Vic's Family Music Series at 10:30 a.m.
Sanctuary's current schedule also includes Mediocre Mike at 2:30 p.m. and Eva James at 5:30 p.m. at Barside.
If you want to keep the evening going, The Nightflies: Music of Steely Dan take the Main Hall stage at 8:00 p.m.
Add the Maynard Public Library Fall Book Sale
Books are part of the weekend, too. The Friends of the Maynard Public Library Fall Book Sale is the Friends' biggest used-book sale of the year, with thousands of books, DVDs, music CDs and puzzles.
The sale is scheduled to begin Saturday, October 3 at 10:00 a.m. and continue Sunday, October 4 beginning at noon. The library will also have a booth at MaynardFest on Saturday.
You could very easily come home from Maynard with music in your head and another stack of books you didn't know you needed.
Sunday, October 4: Maynard Porchfest
On Sunday, the weekend's music moves out across the community.
Maynard Porchfest returns Sunday, October 4, from noon to 5:00 p.m., with musicians performing at locations throughout town.
Rather than gathering around one central stage, Porchfest gives you a chance to move through Maynard, following the music from one neighborhood and performance location to another.
The 2026 schedule includes locations along Walnut, Hillside, Loring, Lincoln, Thompson, Chandler, Durant, Tremont, Concord, Rickey, Pine and Fairfield Streets, as well as Main Street, Sanctuary Cultural Arts Center and Assabet Co-op Market.
Expect a broad mix of music, including rock, jazz, Americana, acoustic, country folk, punk, blues, bluegrass and singer-songwriters.
Assabet Co-op Market is also participating in Porchfest from noon to 5:00 p.m., giving visitors another place to stop for music while exploring town.
The best approach may be not to worry about seeing everything. Pick a few performances that catch your attention, use the map to plan a route and enjoy seeing where the afternoon takes you.
Make a Weekend of It in Maynard
You definitely don't have to live in Maynard to enjoy this weekend.
If you're coming from Acton, Concord, Sudbury, Stow, Hudson, Boxborough or elsewhere in MetroWest, October 3–4 offers an especially good opportunity to spend some time in Maynard while so much is happening around town.
Come for MaynardFest on Saturday. Browse the library book sale. Catch some live music. Walk around downtown and visit local businesses. Then return Sunday for Porchfest—or make a full weekend of it.
Community weekends like this also offer a different way to get to know a town. Local events, arts organizations, independent businesses and public spaces can tell you things about a community that you simply don't see while driving through.
